2025 has felt like the shortest year so far since I graduated college. Its scary to think that this is my 5 year college reunion, and we’re a year away from my 10 year high school reunion. To help future me reminisce and unpack what happened last year, I wanted to take the time to break down the last year and share some highlights.

So this is not going to be another one of the blog posts/articles walking you through DeepSeek R1, there are plenty of those out there. I did, however, want to share some of my thoughts on the hype/discussion around R1. I don’t really know how to format this so I’m just going to pretend it’s a fake interview where I’m the interviewer interviewing myself. Yea I know this is cringe, but whatever.
